1 stick  Salted Butter, Softened
¼ cup Light Brown Sugar, Packed
¾ cup Granulated Sugar
2Â Â Extra Large Eggs
1 teaspoon  Vanilla Extract
1/3 cup  Dark Cocoa
½ cup All Purpose Flour
¼ teaspoon Salt
¼ teaspoon Baking Powder
½ cup  Sliced Blanched Almonds
Step 1
In a mixing machine with a paddle on medium speed, cream together the softened butter, both sugars and the vanilla.
Step 2
Scrape down the bowl, add the egg and beat on medium speed 2 minutes.
Step 3
Add the cocoa, flour, salt and baking powder. Mix on medium speed 2 minutes. Scrape down bowl and mix 1 more minute.
Step 4
Prepared a non-stick 9 inch by 9 inch cake pan (or comparable size) by additionally spraying the interior with non-stick vegetable pan spray.
Step 5
Turn the batter into the pan and spread evenly.
Step 6
Sprinkle the sliced almonds evenly over the surface of the batter and tap the pan down on a level surface to be sure the almond sliced adhere to the batter.
Step 7
Bake in a pre-heated 350 F oven approximately 20 to 25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the middle of the pan comes out clean.
Step 8
Allow the brownies to cool, then cut into your desired portions sizes.
