Ingredients
5 strips Bacon, Cut in 1/2 Inch Pieces
1/2 cup White Onions, Cut 1/2 Inch Dice
1/2 Cup Mushrooms, Cut 1/2 Inch Dice
1/4 cup Green Pepper, Chopped
1/2 cup Broccoli, Chopped
6 links Breakfast Sausage, Cooked and Cut Into 1/2 Inch Pieces
1/2 cup Ham, Chopped
2 cups Half and Half or Milk
5 Extra Large Eggs
2 cups Cheddar Cheese, Shredded
To Taste Salt & Pepper
1 – 9 Inch Frozen Pie Shell Dough
Step 1
In a medium size sauté pan or skillet on medium high heat, cook bacon until crisp, then add onion, green pepper and mushrooms.
Step 2
Sauté, while stirring until the vegetable are softened. Approximately 3 to 5 minutes. Then reserve this cooked mixture off to the side.
Step 3
Pre-heat your oven to 375 F and par-bake a 9″ pie shell for approximately 10 minutes. Or until JUST lightly browned, then remove from the oven and place on a baking pan.
Step 4
Evenly sprinkle the sautéed bacon mixture over the base of the par-baked pie shell.
Step 5
On top of the bacon mixture, in order, evenly distribute the chopped broccoli, then the ham and the cooked breakfast sausage pieces.
Step 6
Evenly sprinkle the cheddar cheese shreds over the garnishment ingredients. The result should be a pile of ingredients slightly higher than the crust edge itself.
Step 7
In a small bowl, whisk together the eggs and half and half or milk. Season this liquid with salt and pepper then pour it over ALL the garnishment in the pie shell.
Step 8
Pour the egg mixture evenly over the garnishments, being careful not to fill it OVER the edge of the pie shell. There are many variables here, including the accuracy of all your measurement and the depth of your brand of pie shell so understand it may not be a perfect fill.
Step 9
Place the filled pie shell (quiche) in the oven carefully.
Step 10
Reduce the oven temperature to 350 F
Step 11
Bake approximately 45 minutes or until the custard mixture is firm and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Step 12
Take your quiche out of the oven and allow it to cool at LEAST 20 to 30 minutes before cutting it into serving portions.
